Here’s What Our Caregivers Are Saying

It has totally changed my life forever
A Friend of the Family is a great place to work for many reasons. Over 2 years ago, I decided to change careers and do something I love, care for children and the Elderly. I was not totally sure how this would affect my life. However, it has totally changed my life forever. One of the great benefits of working for A Friend of the Family is that I choose which jobs and how far I would like to travel. If I need time off for whatever reason I just change my availability. Another great benefit is that I have met so many awesome people. When I start with a new family, I never know what will develop with the client. Whether it is their children or parents, I always bring patience, respect and calming energy with everything I do, in every home I enter. I quickly establish that I am there to provide the best care possible for their loved ones. I believe that this has resulted in having many repeat clients who look to me to provide consistent quality care for their loved ones. Some have even become like family because I’ve been working with them since I began. I work for a great company with great people. If you are looking for a great place to work for, I highly recommend A Friend of the Family.

Fulfilling Work
I’ve been working for A Friend of the Family for over 3.5 years. I love the scheduling flexibility, which I could never get with a traditional part-time or full-time job.I’ve met some of the nicest families working for A Friend of the Family. They’re always so appreciative of how I take care of their Kiddos. I find the work to be very fulfilling.

I Love the Flexibility
I’ve been working for A Friend of the Family, serving families with child care needs for more than 2yrs. When I retired from working with the State of Georgia, I decided that I would do something that brought me pure joy! I knew that it would involve working part time with children. When I found A Friend of the Family, it was a dream come true!! I love the flexibility! I can work when I chose to, I just let the office know of my availability. The families and children that I’ve had the privilege of working for are simply amazing. I love meeting and working with different families, and also have some families that I’ve been working with since day one. I love seeing how the children have grown and have developed wonderful bonds with them and the families. The office staff is always soo friendly, and professional. I’m doing what I was made to do, caring for and playing with children!!!

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I become a caregiver?
We have many opportunities requiring a wide range of skills. We are always looking for kind, compassionate people who enjoy helping others.
What qualifications do your caregivers need?
Our caregivers go through a rigorous screening and recruiting process to join A Friend of the Family. In addition to having the right temperament for this type of work, they must undergo local and national criminal background investigation and reference checks. They must have a driver’s license and a good driving record and be eligible to work in the U.S. We require they are trained in First Aid and CPR.
Do you provide any insurance?
All of our caregivers are covered by Workers’ Compensation insurance.
How do you determine which jobs go to a particular caregiver?
We compare the responsibilities and requirements of the particular job and try to match them with the caregiver who is the best fit. We try to make sure that both the client and the caregiver are happy with the arrangement.
Does the caregiver get to decide whether or not to accept a position?
Yes, you’ll be told about the particular position and then you can accept it or pass. Again, we try to match you with jobs that meet your preferred criteria.
How much advance notice will I get before a job begins?
While we can usually give 24-hour notice, we may occasionally call you with same-day opportunities that crop up. If you’re unable to accept the position on such short notice, you can pass.
